Aloe plants are known for their medicinal properties specifically in healing skin ailments like burns and frostbite. They work well not just for people, but for animals too- and are safe to use on the skin of all species including reptiles, invertebrates, mammals, and birds. Aloe can grow up to five feet in height and make magnificent plants for large indoor planters. They do well with minimal watering and are fairly hardy even in colder houses. They also thrive well in shady areas- and can be put on windowsills where there isn't direct sunlight. To harvest aloe oil simply take a stem of the plant and cut it down the center. Leave it sit for five to ten minutes in a glass bowl. The stem will begin to secrete it's ointment. At this point you can begin to squeeze out the liquid from the stem with your fingers. You can use a spoon to scrape out any remaining bits. The aloe oil can be used for a variety of things but is most commonly used for sunburn, frostbite, dry skin, and bug bites. My aloe plants are taken care of with a lot of love. They are grown as naturally and organically as possible They are watered with chemical-free water naturally harvested from an Alaskan spring. These plants were grown with absolutely no pesticides or chemicals of any kind. They were fed organic material such as fish compost from our aquarium. Planter is not included with this purchase. Prices: 1" to 3" $4.00 3" to 5" $6.00 6" to 9" $8.00
