The rear differential is on its way out. There is a used differential for sale in town that supposedly has 98k miles on it, and was being offered for $385 when last I looked. If you are mechanically inclined and have the space and time to make the swap, you will wind up with a reliable, capable vehicle that is otherwise in GREAT shape.
235k miles, but fires up and runs wonderfully. If you are willing to ignore the rear differential deteriorating and use the SUV modestly, it should get you to and from work through at least the winter provided it's used only in town.
I am leaving state and I'm out of time to deal with it, though I would fix and keep it if I could. I have held on to it in the hope that I would find suitable work here locally, but unfortunately that didn't line up.
It is constant 4wd, handles great in all conditions. Punchy V6. Heat, Power windows, lock and unlock key fob, lots of usual conveniences. Rear window heat and wiper. Upgraded sound system with a small subwoofer in the rear and custom installed tweeters up front, bluetooth connection and sounds awesome.
The windshield has a low running crack but it is not an obstruction or big problem. Tires are rather worn, but I would want to put winter tires on it anyways. Other than that, there are no other pressing concerns.
I bought it when it had 186k miles on it, and it was a single-owner vehicle. A little old lady in southern Utah that drove it to and from work, and always kept up on the preventative maintenance. I held to the same high standard and have kept up with it quite well since I bought it in 2016. Last summer I replaced the radiator. This summer I replaced the rear shocks.
Again, the deteriorating rear differential is the ONLY reason I'm looking to sell, and is why I've put the price so low. If you have the tools, you've found yourself a great deal.
Could likely also be viable to part it out should you have the time.
I figure a mechanic or someone working locally would be best suited buying it.
Cheers!
