1973 Oldsmobile Omega rare 2 door hatchback survivor
Got this from the 3rd owner, the engine and transmission are all original.
Has the Rocket 350, original 4 barrel, original non HEI ignition, all original wiring remains uncut or tampered with. Has the original Turbo 350 auto transmission. The worst body dent on the car is the driver's front fender has an inward curl behind the front bumper.
There are still GM interchange parts out there, any 1973-74 of the list below, of the GM N.O.V.A. project will work;
N. chevy Nova
O. oldsmobile Omega
V. pontiac Ventura
A. buick Apollo
N.O.V.A.
This is true, with exceptions to front grille, rear tail lights, etc. All interior will interchange, except emblems, additionally with exception to hatchback's having unique rear interior pieces to accommodate the hatch opening, and reportedly, the 4 door's windshields were 2 inches wider.
The last owner pulled the transmission and put an overhaul kit in it, but the front oil seal was damaged when the transmission was reinstalled, thus it has a mild leak still today. I topped it off and drove it home. I started it right up friday, after two years it still held the ATF and drove it out.
It came with a replacement windshield sitting in the rear seat, wrapped in a blanket.
The engine does not burn oil, and runs very well. The rear bumper has small dent from backing into tree, paint is very rough, body panel's do have typical rust, but seems minimum for the year.
Somehow the rear hatch has suffered rusting along the huge rubber seal due to CHSR being salted while this car was used for daily commuting when they still did that stuff. It does need attention, but looks very rescue-able still.
The original color was a light translucent emerald green kind-of-color. I have not seen the floor pan; I have just driven it to park it, twice, to different storage’s.
I also have a 1973 4 door Omega available, straight fenders, but had some bondo along the way, years ago. Many parts and pieces are interchangeable between the two cars, fenders, hood and bumpers, grille, tail lights, some trim.
This Omega currently has no engine available, does have a 1967 old's 3 speed switch-pitch transmission (in the torque converter) or the 2 speed version.
