Scaffold Sled for High Wall/Ceiling Repairs. I recently built a wooden scaffold sled to access my skylights and high ceiling window area in order to paint and make some minor repairs. It consists of an 8 foot sheet of 3/4” plywood 4 feet wide mounted on a 3 foot wide frame built on 12 foot rails. Two feet of the rails extend over the second floor balcony ledge and the opposite rail ends rest on the rungs of two ladders on the opposite wall. Alternately, you could rest it on two pairs of ladders on opposite walls or build other types of support for it. There's also border strips on the top edges for extra protection, especially if you will be working on another ladder on top of the scaffold. It is extremely sturdy and secure and simplifies the work experience. I built it so it can be broken down into manageable segments for transport and set-up. For example, I cut the 4 X 8’ plywood in half - into 2 4 X 4’ segments. They fit down nice and flush once screwed in place. Once you are done with your project you can either sell it in the same form or use the materials to build something else.
