If you do lots of canning, here's a chance to beat Wal-Mart's price on replacement lids and bands. I buy a LOT of cases of new Ball jars which come packaged with new bands and lids. For my purposes (milk handling) I only use the plastic storage caps (pic # 2), so each time I open another case of jars I swap out the lids and end up with many boxes of new unused canning lids and bands.
Everyone loves options, so here's three to pick from:
1) $3.50 per box of 12 bands & lids (about half price compared to Wal-Mart)
2) $35 for a case of 12 boxes (12 bands & lids per box = buy 10 get 2 free)
3) trade me 8 boxes of new unused wide-mouth plastic lids and get 12 boxes of metal lids/rings in exchange. Happy canning!
