If ad's up still for sale. Cash or cash+plus+trade. This isn't a boom-alum tin can canoe or cheap plastic tub that melts in the sun. It's a top-line expedition boat made by one of the best and oldest Canadian canoe makers. A comparable boat -- e.g., a top-line Nova Craft -- will set you back anywhere from $3500 to over $4000. Think of it like comparing a top-line F-350 Super Duty to a mini-Nissan pickup. There's no comparison. One guy questioned the "miles." Can only smile at that. Details:
Swift is a premier Canadian canoe / kayak maker and the Yukon is a 17'-6" version of their famous Dumoine. They called it a "modern Prospector." It's a Royalex boat with an asymmetric hull [leaner entry lines] and was designed specifically for the big windy lakes and wild rivers of Canada and Alaska. It's a rugged, seaworthy boat with great initial and final stability. Contour web seats make it a joy to paddle, and paddlers give Swift's Yukon extremely high marks. Here's a couple online reviews:
“It's a joy to paddle, very responsive, but with excellent glide. The Yukon has enormous cargo capacity, but continues to be safe in rough water, even when fully loaded.”
“My son and I took this boat on the 740 mile Northern Forest Canoe Trail last summer. We paddled our Yukon for 35 days straight in all kinds of water and it performed great. I would highly recommend the Swift Yukon for your next canoe expedition.”
Point is the Yukon is one of the best tandem whitewater / expedition boats you can buy. Assuming you could buy one. They stopped making Royalex boats in 2014, the year we bought this one, and it looks as good today as it did when we bought it. It's been well cared for since then and always stored inside. Hasn't gotten any use the past few years. Got older and a couple back surgeries made us give it up. But this boat belongs on the water so looking for a new home for it.
Condition is excellent. Barely a mark on it. So genuinely "like new." And this is probably the only chance you will ever get to get your hands on one.
The Yukon was a designed to haul people and gear and handle big water. But if can do that it can also haul you and the kids safely anywhere you want to go. Doesn’t matter if you’re heading out for a day trip, a week or two of adventure, or taking the kids canoe camping or fishing. This is the boat for it!
