2009 Ford Escape “Menstrual Red”
Transmission: 5speed standard
Engine: 2.5L 4-cylinder (120k-ish miles)
fw drive . Decent all-season tires.
Could start(w/ new battery). Will not move in her current state. Tow will be required to pickup. Buyer is responsible for tow.
If you want the title the DMV fees will be added to the cost of car(yes I was dumb and never transferred the title when I purchased in WA back in 2019, but I do indeed have it and am able to transfer to myself if need be, but it feels to me a waste of money in fees at this point). Otherwise I’d rather sell with no title as it is really good for nothing other than a project and/or parts car.
The bad: something wrong with transmission, specific problem I’m not sure. Sounds like a lawn mower when put it in gear and press gas. After being fixed when having this problem the first time (after stick-shift lessons with the last of the 3 girls that learned stick on it), the problem occurred again one day after I(girl2 of 3 that learned stick on it 8 years ago) was moving after being stopped at a stop sign. I put it in 1st, hit the gas and something snapped in the transmission(at least made a snap sound) and the lawnmower sound came up when I hit the gas and she thankfully gave one more sputter into the parking lot next to the stop sign before refusing to move since. This was late summer 2022. Had just filled the tank when this happened too, hopefully some ass hole siphoned it before winter hit. My guess is something that snapped on it after 10 years of 3 girls in their early 20s learning how to drive stick in this poor babe.
Also she has not had steering since 2018. After paying $500 just to have the thing looked at and getting screwed over by mechanics I gave up and just drove it like that for the rest of my time with her because it toned my biceps better than any damn shake weight ever could.
Interior would be better off ripped out if car were to be used again as it has been parked on a dock for so long the interior is moldy and shot.
The good: The engine was always kept up on in regards to basic TLC, so it would be good for parts if you’re mechanically inclined and have the same car. She was shipped on a barge from WA>AK in 2020 and has survived winters well with the tires. She was very very good to me and I feel bad I could not give her the same treatment back. I held on too long hoping I could, but it’s time for me to lighten the load and giving up the ol’ Escapé is step 1.
I understand the location is not close for everyone, please do not hesitate to ask for additional pictures. PLEASE TEXT ONLY. I am very busy and get a lot of weird scam calls so I will not answer the phone if you call. If you leave a voicemail stating that you’re responding to the ad with your name and number and that you despise texting, then I will call you back as soon as I find a moment.
I do not expect to sell this thing at full price but I’m not giving her away for free either. The price is OBO.
