Ad Does Not Exist

The classified ad associated with the link that you used no longer exists, because it was deleted from our database. If so, any pictures that may have been associated with the ad have also been deleted.

If you think that you're receiving this message in error, and you're certain that your ad is still posted here at Alaska's List, then there are several reasons why this might be happening:

  1. You link is not working because it was broken into two lines by your email software, in which case it will not work. This is because your email software program only highlighted part of the link that we provided to you, leaving out essential, last [encoded] part of the Web address, which it broke off into a second line.

All links must appear on one line in order to work, and that's how we always present links to you, both on the site when our server generates it for you, and in any emails that we may send you afterward.

If this is the case, simply change the settings on your email software to show at least 107 characters before forcing a line break, or better yet, use a Web-based email service to read our Ad Management Email. Encoded links like ours always work just fine wheneever clicked on frmom any Web-based email service provider, but they often don't work when they're clicked on within offline email clients like Outlook Express, which was developed long before 32-bit encoded links like ours ever became ubiquitous. However, Microsoft never updated Outlook Express to support such links when they did become commonplace, which is a real head-scratcher.

  2. You are using the wrong link to access your ad. Many times people will simply choose the wrong link to get to the Ad Management page they are looking for. This is common when people have multiple ads posted, but fail to delete Ad Management Links to ads that they've already deleted.

Every link contains the ad number within it. So, if there's ever any confusion as to which ad a link ponts to, just look for the "adid=" part of the link, and it will have the relevant Ad Number there.

Remember that every Ad Management page has it's own special 32-bit encoding, so you can't just replace the Ad Number in a link to make it work for any ad that you want. For security reasons, every Ad Managemet link that's generated by our server is completely unique, and cannot be used to access any other Ad Management Page.

  3. You are including a blank space in the link when you copied and pasted it.
