I have eleven 40 acre mining claims with a 16X20 log cabin, on state land in the historic Chandalar Mining District on the south side of the Brooks Range. Winter mining trail from Coldfoot to the claims. Four wheelers, tandem trailer, tools & implements. 19' Grumman freighter canoe. Gold was discovered in 1907 at Little Squaw Creek, just a few miles from my claims. Tobin Creek, Big Creek, Little Squaw, & all creeks in this small mountain range, just north of Chandalar Lake, have all been mined for many years. An experienced Geologist, while in a helicopter working for a mining company, said he could guarantee gold in my creek, & could see where it was coming from. Goldrich did a big placer operation at Little Squaw over the years, & took out tens of thousands of ounces of gold. I'm not a miner, & am too old to become one.
