2-4 pm Sunday afternoons for 3 weeks starting March 15

Our credentials: After growing up on a strawberry farm in Illinois, I enjoyed learning to garden in Alaska. We have grown and preserved all our own vegetables here for over 15 years. We also grow barley and raise goats for milk and rabbits for meat. Our you-pick raspberry patch yields around 80 gallons per year, and we sell a variety of perennial flowers, berries, and shrubs, along with rhubarb-raspberry jam. March 15 Class 1: Intro to Gardening
We will start plants from seed, which you will check on every week until they are ready to plant in the garden in late May. We will discuss what grows well, where to buy seeds and plants, where and when to start your own plants, which saves a lot of money over buying them from a greenhouse.
March 22 Class 2: All about preserving
Learn about methods of food preservation such as dehydrating, drying, freezing and canning. You will learn how to water bath can by making jam to take home!
March 29 Class 3: Intro to meat rabbits
See our winter setup for rabbits, and our summer rabbit tractor. Learn about best breeds for keeping outdoors in winter, what to feed them, best cages, using their compost, butchering and eating them.
Individual classes are $30 per person. Children over 12 may attend if supervised by a parent. Class size is limited. Please prepay by messaging me for payment details using square.
