Sadly we are having to Re-Home our 5 year old female Rottweiler Grace.
Here’s the story. Since Grace was a puppy she showed some aggression. Over the last year it has become a problem. This last summer she bit my 7 year old niece's hand when she put it in her kennel. I don’t know the exact story. Niece says she was just walking by the kennel and Grace bit her. That’s physically impossib but regardless she bit a child. Last night she bit my 13 year old daughter when she reached down to pet her while she was laying on her bed in the living room. Both bites drew blood but no stitches.
Grace comes from a loving family and lives with two other large dogs one male Rottweiler one female Aussiedoodle.
She is a great dog aside from the aggressive behavior to children. Great guard dog, doesn’t chew on things, doesn’t make messes or accidents in house. She doesn’t beg or get on counters. She won’t leave the yard unless you tell her she can. She knows basic commands. She’s smart and healthy. She loves going on walks, camping, boating, she even rides on snowmachines into Petersville.
What I think Grace needs is a single person or older couple who can give her the love and attention that she needs.
Preferably with a nice sized yard. Also a must- someone with experience with strong willed large breed dogs.
If my kids were older and moved away we would keep her. But, I can’t trust her around children anymore and I don’t know what else to do. No allergies or other health issues. I hate having to do this. But, I can’t trust her around kids and have no other choice but to find another home or put her down. Which, not even the family members she has bitten wants to happen. I don’t know if we should charge a re-home fee or not. She is a purebred (non papered) I paid 1,200 dollars for her as a puppy. I just want her to live out her days safe and happy.
