We adopted Magpie from the shelter in May, and unfortunately, we don't know anything about her history. She is a wonderful, incredibly intelligent dog with so much potential.
Magpie is well-mannered, eager to learn, and has all the natural instincts to make an exceptional hunting dog with the right training. She has been wonderful with our three-year-old and loves being with her family. She is affectionate, loyal, and happiest when she's included in whatever you're doing.
Magpie does have some anxiety that will require time and patience to work through. She is anxious in cars and small aircraft and does not do well when left home alone. Due to unexpected health challenges in our family, we simply don't have the time or energy to give her the training and consistency she deserves.
We believe Magpie would thrive in a home with someone who is experienced with working dogs and is excited to invest in her training. She bonds very closely with one person and seems especially devoted to a single handler, so we think she would do particularly well with an owner looking for a loyal companion and hunting partner. That said, she has also been a loving family dog in our home. To include our 3-year-old daughter climbing on her. She is great with kids.
Our goal is simply to find Magpie the right home. We are asking a $100 rehoming fee to help ensure she goes to someone who is prepared and committed to providing the care and training she needs.
