The Coton de Tuléar is a small companion breed known for its affectionate personality, low-shedding, cottony coat, and predictable, delightfully playful temperament. Cotons have a normal muzzle (not brachycephalic), allowing for healthier breathing. They are wonderful for first-time dog owners, allergy sufferers, homes with cats, apartment homes, retirees, children of all ages, remote workers, and families who want an affectionate companion without the very high exercise demands of many other breeds. Unlike working breeds, Cotons were bred simply to be loving companions. They are a relatively rare breed that has not been overbred, and are known for their stable, people-oriented temperament.
As a boutique breeder, we intentionally raise a small number of puppies so each receives individualized care and early socialization. Our puppies are raised in our South Anchorage home using Puppy Culture, Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS), Early Scent Introduction (ESI), and the Misty Method. We introduce our puppies to regular nail trimming, tooth brushing, bathing, blow drying, and dry box exposure as part of our early socialization program. Each puppy receives temperament testing to help match them with the right family and begins early crate conditioning before going home.
Puppies are dewormed every two weeks, examined by our veterinarian, receive age-appropriate vaccinations, and will be ready for their new homes early to mid-August, once developmental milestones have been reached.
We own both parents, who are excellent examples of the breed in structure and temperament. They are AKC registered, DNA health tested through Embark, OFA health tested, and CHIC certification is pending final processing. We also provide photos of our puppies’ grandparents on both the sire’s and dam’s side, so you can see the family behind your puppy.
Each puppy goes home with an extensive puppy package containing over $275 worth of brand-new supplies, including their first crate, crate cover, grooming brush kit, and many other essentials to help make the transition into their new home as smooth as possible. AKC registration, health records, and lifetime breeder support are included.
The Coton's beautiful single coat can be maintained at home with brushing about twice per week and routine baths. Their versatile coat may be kept long, in a medium puppy cut, or clipped short to suit your family's lifestyle.
