As per our Terms of Use Agreement, which you agreed to prior to posting, "Due to the huge amount of fraud now taking place on the Internet with respect to pet ads, and most notoriously, puppy ads, we may ask you to confirm that you actually do have the pet[s] that you are offering for sale by uploading a picture of the pet with an object of our choosing placed near it. That way we will know that animal actually exists, and that your photos, if any, are not just some photos that you found somewhere on the Internet."

According to the FBI, pet scams are now the most common form of fraud being perpetrated on the Internet, and we are working hard, in cooperation with federal, state, and local authorities, to protect our readers from falling prey to such scams.

Please upload one photo of the pet you are selling with the special item that we specified in the text that we sent to the cell phone number you provided in your ad. Just place that item somewhere next to the animal that you are offering for sale in your ad, and take a photograph of that item and your pet together. If you have more than one pet, we only require a photo of one of your animals like this.

After you upload the photo, be sure to text us at 907-306-8148, and let us know that you have finished doing so. That way we can quickly verify your photo, and get your ad up and running. Your timely text to us will also verify that the number that you are using in your ad is a valid, working cell phone number, which is required for all ads posted at Alaska's List.

When notifying us by text of your successful upload, please do not text us that photo. We cannot receive images by text, nor can we receive any text messages that you may attached to any such image. Just send us a simple message saying "photo uploaded," or something to that effect, and we will quickly get your ad up and running after we approve the photo that you upload here.

Please be aware that failing to complete our Pet Verification process on your first attempt to do so within 24 hours after you post your ad will automatically disqualify your post from publication, and that pursuant to our Terms of Use Agreement, you will automatically forfeit any and all payments that you may have made relevant to that post.
