Mandatory insurance laws, whether they're mandatory health insurance laws or mandatory automobile insurance laws, are just naked examples of fascism, which like communism, is a rotting, collectivist mindset that America fought two world wars to shield our Nation from. When any government holds its gun to your head, and tells you that you must purchase a product from a private vendor in order to exercise your Natural Rights to live, or to travel upon the public roadways, it not only violates every principle of Individual Liberty upon which this country was founded, it amounts to a form of legal plunder that has no place in a society which dares to call itself "free."
