Because truth is not relative, we should be willing to set aside whatever we would prefer to be true and embrace only which is actually true, changing ourselves, our attitudes, and our beliefs whenever it's necessary to do so. That's part of the learning process. Should we come upon some truth that doesn't fit within the box of our current beliefs or within our worldview, then we must be intellectually honest enough to change what we believe and embrace our new understanding. Objective truth is, after all, an essential aspect of defining morality and virtue--what's good and what's bad. Without objective truths, these important concepts have no foundation.
