This started out as a box stock Mossberg 500 but I modified it heavily for use as a handy, short waterfowling gun. The barrel is a compact 20" long, but still accepts choke tubes. I used it the last two seasons on the Little Susitna river and it is a heck of a lot easier getting this gun in and out of the ponds than trying to wrangle a 28" long beast.
To purchase this rifle we must meet at a local gun shop and you must pass a background check with the shop.
Also includes two Mossberg choke tubes and two Carlsons extended, ported tubes. The forend and buttstock have been upgraded to Hogue over-molded models for better grip and imperviousness to water. More than once I've lost my balance with wet hands, but never lost control of the gun.
The red dot is a basic Bushnell model. I've found that a lot easier to use than the bead sight the barrel came with. The paint on the metalwork is simple Krylon. It's about as far from fancy as it gets, but it sure is nice to be able to "tune up" the paint at the end of a season without a $300 cerakote bill.
This definitely isn't you usual waterfowling rig, but if you're often on foot and working your way through the brush it works great. Also makes an excellent backup to an autoloader.
